Mated: 27th November 2009
Due: 20th December 2009
This is a inbreed litter following two outcrosses, so some of the colours we've intentionally and unintentionally accumulated
are appearing in this litter.
My foundation mating (this litter's great grandparents) was cinnamon x Russian blue Essex, but they produced two British blue kittens, so
it appeared that they both carried
British blue from several generations back. Cinnamon is the variety name for mink agouti, so we knew we had both blue genes and British mink
in the line. Then one of my foundation doe's brothers sired a litter containing American mink kittens, which introduced the possibility
that we also had American mink genes in the line.
I originally planned this mating with Sherbourne, Tyburn's father, but Sherbourne was giving me some anxious moments (he keeps retracting one testicle),
and this mating follows just as closely my stated intention of breeding down through my previous litter. I also hoped that by using a
black sire I could keep the colour combinations less complicated. Hah!
Tyburn is a really friendly and active black buck, from my third litter.
Wandle is a superbly friendly girl. She's calm, unafraid and will sit happily in your hands for ... well, seconds before you find her up your sleeve, or on your shoulder with her nose in your ear! I love the whole of her birth litter and had a real job deciding which doe to breed from.
Tyburn is bright and busy, so I'm hoping this pair will produce friendly and outgoing kittens.
Expected Varieties:
Mating Tyburn to Wandle should give me equal chances of agouti, black, cinnamon and mink. There is also a chance of variations on Russian Blue and British Blue. I'm expecting friendly, outgoing kittens from this pair.
Actual Varieties: black, agouti, mink, cinnamon, blue agouti, Russian silver, Russian dove.
Number of Kittens: 13, 5 male and 8 female.
Keepers: None
Homed: Amelie, Domino, Juno, Nero, Busby, Mercury, Toulouse, Bede, Lily, Tilly, Mog, Mitzy, Rory.
