About Moss

Moss was born in my fourth Brandywine litter, and was one of ten littermates, four girls and six boys.

Moss is named after the Moss Brook, a Derbyshire brook, to celebrate my eldest's recent graduation from Derby University.

Having avoided being shown for most of her life due to various things such as me not showing due to other rats being ill, recently taking in rescues, all the rats having mites, and Moss having war wounds, Moss then went on to win the first show she entered at 10 months old.

September 2011 - I'm worrying about where to place Moss once her remaining cagemate, Maisy, has gone. It won't be long. I don't want to put her with my group of six girls as they have had neck abscesses, and although they seem clear now it's only been a couple of months. The three young girls don't need intros right now, as one of them is pregnant and I don't want to rock the boat. The two mums and their four month old girls might take her in, but Moss has a history of bullying youngsters so I don't know if she'll behave herself. Hum...

October 2011 - Moss has moved in with the five month old girls with no problem at all. Don't know what I was worrying about. Rats!

Weight data on all our ratties

Health

7th April 2011 - Wheezy at times.
2nd June 2011 - Very tight chested after exercise. No wheezing now.
28th January 2012 - Losing weight. Breathing still laboured after exercise, but she copes well. Suspect she's had CK and partially beaten it, or beaten it and has been left with damaged lungs.

Temperament

Friendly little doe.
3rd July 2010 - moved into a different cage group, as she was bullying her small half sisters.
12th July 2010 - moved in with her two litter-sisters, as she was bullied in the new group. All fine now.
