Nickname: Minty
Gender: Doe
Variety: Black hooded
Born: Late September 2007
Died: 15th February 2010
Origin: Pet Rescue UK
Litter Mates: Angelina and Isabella
Health: 6th February 2009 - Mammary? lump near right rear leg.
17th Feb 2009 - Lump removal.
22nd April 2009 - Ivermectin for mites.
1st May 2009 - repeat Ivermectin.
21st November 2009 - starting to fall sideways off her back legs.
10th December 2009 - Mammary lump under arm. Wait and see how fast it grows.
1st January 2010 - I'm not sure what to do. If the leg problem is due to a pituitary tumour, having the mammary lump removed may
make it worse. But if I leave it she might need putting to sleep before she's ready.
6th January 2010 - Lump removed. More widespread than it looked, and possibly cancerous.
8th January 2010 - I was right. The operation has greatly worsened the symptoms of pituitary tumour. I don't know if it happens
because the tumour gets more nutrients or something, or because the anaesthetic triggers the growth, but I've seen it before. And now I've spent £70 making her worse!
4th February 2010 - Minty is slowly and gently fading away. I'm not going to try to interfere, because it's always just prolonged things in the past and I've then regretted it.
13th February 2010 - Seems to have stabilised. Legs still wobbly but she's holding food and pulling herself around the cage.
15th February 2010 - RIP Minty.
Temperament: Cheeky girl. A little skittish on occasion.
Minty came to us at 9 weeks old with her two sisters. She's a black hoody with a very zigzag stripe, a little like zip fastener teeth. Minty's often the last back to the cage at feed time, as she has lots of exploring to do first.
