Oct 2007 - neutered. Recovered really well from the operation.
20th Nov 2007 - mites - Ivermectin.
29th Nov 2007 - Ivermectin 2nd dose.
5th Feb 2008 - slight chest rattle. Convenia injection, 0.06ml, return next week for second dose.
12th Feb 2008 - Second jab. Almost better.
19th Feb 2008 - Chest clear.
21st Apr 2008 - Losing weight. Slight wheeze.
30th Apr 2008 - Looking poorly. Vet trip in order, I think.
2nd May 2008 (10am) - Injection Convenia 0.1ml, injection Dexadreson 0.1ml. Return in 5 days.
2nd May 2008 (10pm) - Looking much better, eating, out and about. Fantastic! :-)
3rd May 2008 - Still out and about. Not quite as bright as last night. Not interested in breakfast.
7th May 2008 - Chest much better, slight weight gain. 2nd injection of Convenia.
12th May 2008 - Chest tight again. Injection of Convenia and Dexadreson.
17th May 2008 - No improvement. Not eating, losing weight, exhausted. PTS. I'm sorry Pickle.
Temperament: Shy but excitable. Affectionate on his own terms.
Pickle came with his brother Chester to live at Ratty Corner when he was 8 months old, on 21st July 2007. His brother Brunel already lived here. Chester and Pickle were a very clingy pair of rats, quite needy, possibly due to a lack of attention from their first adoptive home over the few months before they arrived. They were quite hormonal, as they were completely unused to smelling other rats. This resulted in me getting bitten once, I'm not sure by which of the pair.
Although they became more used to the smell of other rats, they were still obsessively scent marking when they came out to play, showing dark patches around the scent glands on their backs. I made the decision to have them both neutered, and am really pleased with the result as I believe it has improved their quality of life.
Pickle is a little shyer than his brother Chester, but is a friendly little man. He seeks me out for attention and settles down nicely in my arms for a fuss. He and his brother are a lovely, loving pair and make me so pleased that I decided to bring them to Ratty Corner.
