Lay out a standard full-size pillowcase. The size is about 20 by
30 but you can use any non-raveling fabric that will fit into your
cage if you keep roughly to the same
proportion (length longer than width).
Turn over about 1 ½ on the open end of the case and sew a seam
all the way across the end to form a pocket.
Fold the other end of the pillowcase toward the end with the new
seam but fold it to about 8 below the first seam. The longer this
dimension is, the deeper the pouch and the shorter the tent top will be.
At the fold, make another 1 ½ seam all the way across the width.
Take hold of the middle of the second seam (about 10 from the edge
of the case) and pull that point to right below the equivalent position
on the first seam.
Tack the two pieces together at that point. Do not tack ON the seam
or it will block the seam.
Thread electric wire or bungee cords through the seam at the top and
the seam at the fold, and hang your hammock. The bottom will form a
pouch and the top will make a cover with flaps at the side.
