Visitors (Saturday 3rd January 2009)

We have five visitors staying with us while their mum and dad are on holiday. There's an old black berky boy who lives alone called James, who is on soft food and twice daily antibiotics for his chest. He's getting used to us now, and my daughter seems to have taken him on as a project, giving him long cuddles every evening. He has a mammary lump which unfortunately seems to be growing, and can't be removed because of his poorly chest.

Then there's a group of four boys. Two older lads and two little ones. They've not been living together for long, and had been having problems at home, but I think the strange cage is helping them to bond a little. One of the older lads is bullying the babies a little, and one baby has a nasty scratch, but all in all they're not getting on too badly. Funnily enough, the bully is worse with them when they're out on the floor. I think he winds himself up visiting the other cages and takes it out on the babies.

Looking Good (Monday 5th January 2009)

Despite it only being 11 days since she was mated, I'm practically certain that Blythe is expecting. Her centre of gravity has changed, she's getting clumsier and looking rounder. I'm really looking forward to having babies around.

Weight Gain (Tuesday 6th January 2009)

Blythe has gained 55 grams since she was last weighed on the 27th, so either she's getting fat very quickly or we have babies growing.

Goodbye Harmony (Monday 12th January 2009)

Regretfully had Harmony put to sleep with a suspected pituitary tumour. I just couldn't stand watching her struggle any longer, and wasn't convinced that treatment would help at this stage.

Goodbye Brunel (Monday 19th January 2009)

Brunel went downhill over the weekend suffering from an ear abscess that wasn't responding to treatment. Really gutted.
