Megan has a lump on her neck. I'm getting really cross about this. That's the fifth neck abscess in four rats! There are three possible vampire culprits - Mystique, Moonshine and Phoebe. It's really hard not to blame Mystique, but just because she likes biting me doesn't necessarily mean it's her that's biting her cagemates. I don't have any proof.
I caught myself telling my other half that 'Those are the three that I didn't need or want'. It's true, but now I have Agnes, Edie and Luey I wouldn't be without them. They're so sweet they make my heart swell with love. Edie is so licky and loving, Agnes is letting her barbered fur grow back, and Luey has an appetite and is actually putting on weight. None of them were mistreated in their previous homes, but I feel that they're happy here and I'm pleased for them.
Had my second go at pet judging today. Great fun, but I'm absolutely knackered! I entered the five young girls in varieties, with mixed results. Grace was also a runaway winner inthe pea fishing contest, eating eight peas. Several of the others ate one pea, but she far outdid them. Go Gracie!
I tried letting Agnes, Edie and Luey out at the same time as the five young girls. Very few problems, so I think we'll continue that. It will save me half an hour of freerange time every evening. I still don't want to put both groups in together just yet as I'm not 100% sure that Aggie isn't still barbering herself. Some of her hair is growing back, but other bits aren't.
Camelot Brunel has been with me ever since he was a kitten. His brothers Chester and Pickle came along at 8 months old as a second homing. But now we're slightly belatedly celebrating the fact that Brunel and Chester were two years old on the 18th.
Brunel, wearing a blue bunny tail for some reason.

Chester, looking 'ample'.

And sweet memories of Pickle, who didn't manage to make it to two.

The two groups of girls (and Luey) are still freeranging together, and getting on reasonably well. Agnes is the boss, and pushes the younger girls around a little. She's also still patchy, so I'm planning to keep things as they are for the timebeing. Each group get along really nicely as a cage group, so it would be a shame to disturb the equilibrium.
