This is the month when I pick up my breeding bucks. There should have been three, but oh dear, I've been offered a fourth. However will I cope!
So that's two from Asbru stud and two from Halcyon. Then all I have to do is find some suitable girlies and then wait for them all to grow up.
My recent Belyaev Rattery boys, Bramble and Sparky, are absolute darlings. They're cheeky and confident when out playing, but relax wonderfully into my hand when I pick them up. Perfection.
I've been worrying about Oliver being on his own for weeks, so much so that walking home this evening I decided to try him with the two youngsters again. I popped all three of them on the new sofa (the one that smells of cat) and they were fine. No reaction at all. Maybe I'm onto something here?
Just wanted to share some photos of the lovely lads I picked up yesterday, and repeat my thanks to Lisa and to Matt and Lucy.
These four mark step one of my hopes to begin breeding for cinnamon and mink next year.

Halcyon Hodge

Asbru Diggory

Asbru Pringle

And not to leave out their two cagemates whom they met last night and seem to have settled in fantastically well with.
Belyaev Bramble

Belyaev Sparky

My six new boys are wonderful. Bramble is still wonderfully cheeky, friendly, confident and shiny. Sparky is my shoulder rat, or my tunnelling inside my jumper rat. Chumble is my shiny little explorer. Hodge is so cute and cuddly, but so naughty when you least expect. Diggory is bouncy and shiny, but so hard to photograph because he always runs to the camera. Pringle is a little shy, last to come out, but gaining confidence and surprising me with his boldness at times.

Megan and Rosie are growing well, although Rosie is growing much faster than Meg. She's going to be a big girl!
Pyramus, my pigeon loft rat, is poorly at the moment. He's losing weight fast. He's on steroids and antibiotics, but I'm not sure they're making any difference.
Doppler has also lost a lot of weight, and having gasping fits. That leaves Morse as the only one of that group of brothers who looks reasonable healthy at 15 months old, though he's wheezy too. Edison looks appalling, feather light and his patchy rexy fur makes him look even worse.

Oliver is still living alone, after refusing to be introduced to the babies without scaring me. He seems quite content with life to be honest.
That's probably all the news to tell. Wishing you a scary Halloween!
