The Savic Freddy 2

This is where the girls lived at first, it's now used as a spare cage. It's a decent sized cage, big enough for up to four rats, with one large door which has a very secure but quiet catch. It came with two wire shelves but I replaced one with a corner shelf to make access easier. I like it because it's not too tall so it was easy to lift up and down from its position on top of a filing cabinet. Another advantage is that it fits through the hatch into our loft, so I can stick it out of the way when we're not using it.

I've used the second wire shelf to make a lid in the top of the cage, which makes it easier to clean and easier to reach the ratties.

I've aquired a second Freddy 2 cage on eBay for just £5! Right place at the right time.
