The Playpen

Our playpen is constructed from the panels of the aviary, hinged together with cable ties and covered with thick black plastic sheet. The sheet extends for a few inches above the top of the panels, which makes the pen taller but still easy enough to step over. There's even room for a teenager too! So far it has remained remarkably unchewed. The rats are far more likely to stay inside if they have company.
